I need to reedit this entry. It was four in the morning and I was tired.

I wish she was, but no, she died. I'm not sure if it was something she ate or infection left over from the surgery. The nice thing was that I got to be there for her to snuggle up against as she went. Cripes, I know they have short life spans but I don't know if I'm ever going to get good at letting them go.

I only ever had 2 hamsters. One escaped and made itself a cat-snack. The other managed to snag some synthetic Barbie hair (maybe for nesting, no idea) and ingested it. I held him as he died. :(

had to change that entry. That's what I get for typing when tired.

No, Booth died. She'd been fighting it for a long time but yesterday she snuggled up against me and went. Last night while I was trying to get to sleep though Ralf climbed into her cage and ran on the wheel so that I could hear the whirring noise it makes and fall asleep.

Of course, Bonzai ALSO crawled into the cage and stole all her food - I'm not sure how that was supposed to comfort me but at least they're trying.

Awww, I am so sorry. With cats and dogs, we get a longer time. But we've loved rats and guinea pigs, so have a sense of the quick turnaround of a small loved-one. You shared a lot of Booth with us--I am sorry. Just....... sorry. A corner of your life you shared with us. mc
